Welcome to the World~ Miss Brooklin Grace

Proud parents to be, Amanda and Patrick, welcomed their precious little girl with open arms on August 1st, 2011. Brooklin Grace is a beautiful healthy little girl weighing 5 lbs 15 ounces and is 19 inches long. She is ABSOLUTELY ADORABLE and perfect in every way!

The day I planned on checking in with Amanda to see how she was doing and to see if she was still interested in taking maternity pictures… I get a little surprise from Amanda: a text announcing the arrival of little Brooklin. I was so overjoyed and surprised! Why? Because Amanda was due mid-August, but Miss Brooklin had a different agenda in mind and decided to come 2 weeks early!! Amanda filled me in on her crazy labor but all in all, she said, “it was all worth it,” and this is why…

Amanda and Patrick… I hope you guys like it. CONGRATULATIONS!

Introducing... Madelynn Klaire Grigsby

One of my long time friend, Trina, and her husband, Jonathan, gave birth to a beautiful baby girl on July 27th, 2011 at 8:50 pm. She weighed in at 7 lbs 4.6 oz and is 21 inches long. Madelynn can definitely put you under a spell with just her stunning eyes!!! She already has her proud parents, grandparents, and other loved ones wrapped around her tiny little finger.

When I saw Madelynn for the first time, I cannot believe how TINY she was compared to Mia now (and she is just barely 7 weeks). Mia was just about the same size as Madelynn when she was born!! I cannot believe how time flies by so fast. Seeing little Maddie reminds me to cherish every second I have with Mia.

So CONGRATULATIONS to Jon and Trina!! Welcome to the life of parenthood. Little Maddie is so lucky to have you as her parents. And remember… to treasure every second you have with Maddie, both the good and the bad.

Noah's 6 Month Sneak Peek

I had the wonderful opportunity to do a photo shoot for Troy’s (drummer of Rocksauce) little man, Noah. Noah has the most beautiful piercing blue eyes ever! You could totally fall in love with him instantly. He was totally intrigued by the grass and was a serious little man most of the session but he totally teased us with a smirk and smile here and there. I hope Troy and Joannie enjoyed their experience with me compared to their horrible experience with Sears. Here’s a sneak peek from his photo shoot. I have to say, Noah is one handsome fella!!!

Experimental Fun

Earlier this week, I bought some props for my photo shoots and wanted to do a trial run of how it would look. Of course I torture my poor little dumpling and used her as my guinea pig. But my five and a half week old did not like being bothered while she was sleeping. After a long battle of trying to get the shot I wanted, my little dumpling won. This was what I was able to capture.

I took these pictures when Mia was a week old. Her little hands were so tiny and wrinkly, I couldn't resist!

Getting into the Groove of Things

Sorry for being M.I.A on here but I have been tending to my own little one these past few weeks… Miss Mia Hana. The past couple of months have been quite an adventurous one... giving birth and diving into the role of motherhood tops the chart. But boy do I miss the nights of non-interrupted slumber but it’s all worth it when I see my little dumpling growing and thriving. She is also becoming quite a little chunker too and I love it!

Little Mia was due to come into the world on June 23rd (although in my mind, she was due on June 20th) but she made her entrance into the world on Friday, June 24th, 2011 at 8:24 am. I’m going to keep my birth story short.

On June 23rd, I was 3cm dilated. My doc swept my membranes at noon and I went into labor around 10:45pm that evening (didn’t know I was having contractions- thought it was going to be menstrual cramps but I had stomachaches instead). Luckily, Reagan gets home from work at 11pm… so when he got home, he installed the car seat “just in case.” Good thing he did because those stomachaches turned out to be contractions. We called the hospital at 2am, they told us to come in. I didn’t want to look too crappy so in between contractions, I was putting on some make-up. LOL. We got to the hospital at 3:30am, they didn’t check/admit me until 5 am because all the docs and midwives were busy with other preggers… so the nurse checked me only to find out in a panic that I was already 7-8 cm dilated. They quickly got me into a room and I got my epidural within 30 mins. because I wanted to enjoy my birth… but my epi only worked on the left side of my body so I still felt contractions on the right. I saw the whole birth through the mirror and honestly, it was pretty fascinating. Reagan was literally in awe of the whole experience.

One of my girlfriends took some cute newborn pictures and made a couple of birth announcements for me. Thanks Maisee!!

I sometimes get comments that SHE is a HE... hehe... some moms get bothered by it but I don't... honestly, you can't tell sometimes and I even call her a boy at times. LOL!

I think it's SUPER funny to see her cross eyed but deep down, I do worry that it might be permanent :/

My sweet little dumpling... sleeping... something I would love to do again

This one is my favorite...

I took these pics when she was 3 weeks old (when these hats came in)... boy was it challenging... now I understand when my girlfriend said it was best to take them before they turn 2 weeks old.

Now I'm getting back into the groove of things and adjusting to all the new changes and I'm excited to do some photoshoots. I have a session with a 6 month old and a newborn this coming week... I'm excited to see how it turns out so stay tuned :)
